Colonial Carrier Serachtague
Early Cylon War Pre-Battlestar

Pre-War Libran design pressed into service against the Cylons early in the war just prior to and early during the unification of the Colonial Military Forces.

1 Static Mount Super Heavy Kinetic Energy Weapon (KEW) Emplacement.
6 Dual Barrel Medium Kinetic Energy Weapon (KEW) Turret Emplacements.
4 Dual Barrel Light Kinetic Energy Weapon (KEW) Turret Emplacements.
110 Dual Barrel AA Emplacements.
4 15-Tube Dual Purpose Missile Launcher Emplacements.

...Okay, technically, yes, she is the USS Saratoga from Space:Above and Beyond, more or less...

However, in 2007, artist Robert K. Sharo created an image of the Colonial Fleet returning home after the end of the Cylon War. [link]

If one looks closely, right above the foreground Galactica, one of the vessels making its descent towards the shipyard bears a striking resemblence to the 'Toga. [link]

As a result, I 'refit' my version of the John F. Kennedy Class Space Carrier with numerous rBSG components and design elements to create a Colonial version of the design.

I was also inspired by design elements from the outstanding USS Saratoga refit project [link] by ~Jimi-James [link] .

Regretably, I don't think this through-deck hangar arragement makes for a very practical landing pattern (planes approaching from both sides at the same time could be a bit dicey), but judge for yourselves.

I like this a lot actually. The Sins of a Solar Empire SOVA carrier could definitely be related- this and that are two fine examples of the seafaring warship ported into a space well.

nice solid design that works well in BSG universe

Thank you; next stop, a possible reexamination of the Sulaco as an rBSG design...

In Space Above and Beyond, they almost always did slow and controlled landings, so the through landing deck could work. Its just when the pilots start doing combat landings will you have an issue.

I presume that any ship operating in this configuration would have to have all planes approach from either port or starboard during landing ops; combat landings, as you pointed out, would likely be a disaster if they attempted to land from both directions at once.

only if they use the same landing bay at the same time. if you would have to hot land them, granted timing would have to be spot on, but you could alternate the landings in each bay, port then starboard then port again. but then how do you have your landing bays and hangers set up? In SAaB we never actually see the landing bay, just the cockpits.

I imagine these landing bays to be very compact versions of the normal pod arrangements of a Battlestar, i.e., they land on these throughdeck bays and are lowered via lifts into the hangar deck below (where the lanch tubes are arrayed).

I like the alternating landing arrangement you propose, say all port approached on odd numbered bays, starboard to even numbers, or vice versa, a logical solution. One thing is for sure, LSO is going to be busy.

that works. yes alternating the bays works as well, i meant each bay alternate. one plane lands from port, its moved off the landing deck, and the a plane lands from starboard. and the LSO issue one for each bay or a group of bays no one man for something this big and that many lives.

Nice. Although I never really watched the show. I'll have to check it out.
