Hey, is there any way to get this overhead/dorsal view without battle damage (brand new)?

Looks neat, but the scaling is off. The Valkyrie types are some of the smallest battlestars in the Colonial Fleet. The ship should be the size of that entire "Columbia" flight pod.

Normally, I would agree with you.  However, according to the fanfic by :iconunited-systems-navy: the Valkyrie types, and thus the Vindication are much larger. (united-systems-navy.deviantart…).

The perils of fanfic, the laws of not only physics but canonicity take on a certain 'flexibility'...

Really nice work, and an interesting idea.

That ship aint going to be able to fly a straight line anymore with that one sided mass. But hey it's operational again.

Most of the source components are by David "CanisD" Breidis. The bulk of his work across several genres can be found at the Wolf's Shipyard site [link] and its forum [link] . In addition, many of CanisD's works are meticulously posted here on DeviantArt by ~Wolfman-053 [link] . Beyond that, the only real trick is a bit of imagination on how to recombine or alter components and then making those adjustments in MS Paint.

It's kinda growing on me too, I may have to create a version where the older style pods are not simply add-ons but actually part of the design.

I may have a few ideas for that type of vessel, reservist and armed civilian militia type colonial vessels; The Militiastar.

It ain't pretty but all that matters is if it works for it intended purposes.

Considering two real-world factors: one, the transfer of many DD & DE vessels from the United States Navy to the Coast Guard during the 1920's thru 1940's as well as the factual existence of a few State Naval Militias, this isn't to far fetched a prospect for a civilization spread across 12 worlds, might be a good deterrent to piracy and smugglers within the Colonies.  Did you have a specific platform in mind?

The Militiastar is a civilian [Militia] vessel, they could be as ugly as Frak but looks don't matter when you can get the job done and image wise they look like hodgepodge designs [like the Ugly type Starfighters in Star Wars] but mainly they are to perform tasks to lighten the load on the Colonial Navy. The Earlier Militiastars were primarily modified Civilian vessels that had been modified for combat, the later Militiastar were produced as active warships flying Civilian flags or as Weaponized Civilian Vessels

Parts wise. Go for the older girls; the ones that were either decommissioned, fell out of service or were outright abandoned. Take those old girls and breath new life into their rusted old hulks, remodel them to take up their new tasks. But don't just do for military ships, an old civilian tanker could easily be transformed into a carrier type vessel to Vipers [Mk. II or III] and Raptors while reinforcing other ships.

One big bonus factor, the Militiastars were never meant nor are to be linked up to the CNP. The Militiastars originally came into existence when a band of Civilian militiamen took a handful of Civilian ships and armed them to the best of their ability with Pre-Unification Weaponry, the first Reported use of a Militiastar was when the former Fast Courier turned Reconnaissance Gunboat 'Faraday' scouted out a region of Cylon territory before returning to report what they had seen. Many Mlitiastars would see use during and after the Cylon War, most would be used to reinforce or resupply existing Battlestar groups  while quite a few would see use escorting convoys from Pirates with only minimal escort from Colonial Warships. One advantage possessed by Militiastars is that unless you know it is a Militiastar, it registers on DRADIS as a civilian vessel and this became a great advantage to them against both Cylons and Pirates.

Thank you, though I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that ~United-Systems-Navy [link]
came up with this particular idea, I just gave it visual life.

Not bad. But she looks like she was built from mis-matched parts. You have different style hanger bays on either side, and different name plates (Vindication on starboard, Columbia on port). The battle damage burn marks look good though.

This was a request 'commission' from ~United-Systems-Navy for his fanfic story. Apparently the ship does take some significant damage and is rebuilt with parts from another destroyed vessel, hence the mismatch. Don't worry, I haven't gone that far over the edge...yet. As for the marks, thanks, this is the first time I ever tried it.

Port hangar pod got shot off. They used wreckage from the original columbia to rebuild her. Now she's lopsided when flying.

About the only thing that to me any way doesn't seem right , is the fact hat the Hull lines are still so clean & straight if they were hit by the Cylon's weapon as they would be more twisted, Crooked, just an opinion other wize nice work. :)

The story by ~United-Systems-Navy specifies that the fleet accompanying the Vindication has a mobile drydock with it to effect repairs (or in this case a partial reconstruction). This image was created to reflect what the author specifically wanted, so I can only assume story wise (the new chapter isn't up yet) that the damage was localized to the sections that were rebuilt, hence why the remainder of the hull is still relatively clean.

Having said that, your suggestion is noted and will be kept in mind for any future 'damage' I do, thank you.
