Battlestar Galactica
Blood & Chrome Overkill Edition

Following my Battlestar Galactica (Mid-Arms and Up-Armored) version [link], I decided to try going the other way.

This is the result.

On the stern, a bumper sticker reads, "We brake for no frakkin' Cylons..."

Image created using components by CanisD at Wolf's Shipyard: [link]

This would go back to the argument of of what came first?  Chicken or the egg...  Baseship or Battlestar?  It wouldn't make sense to build a WW2 battleship when we have the brand new Ford class carrier in the US Navy?
We know that before the Cylon Uprise not all of the Colonies liked each other (because it's clear in 'Caprica' that there was no united government), in fact some warred each other.  They had Cylon and shipbuilding capabilities, so they would build Baseships and send them to battle other Baseships or local fleet vessels.  Point is; by the time of the Uprise and the Cylons took over the Baseships the local fleets were outmatch, outgunned, and vastly outnumbered.  Not just that, but some stories say the Cylons even computer virused whole fleets  and sent them into the Cyrannus Stars or did other sadistic things (melt down reactors, shutdown life support, change IFFs).
First year, the Colonial Government is born to a losing war.  They need an answer fast and the battlestar project is the answer.  The Colonies raise the funds for the first dozen Jupiter-class ships (Pegasus, Rycon, Pacifica, Columbia, Galactica, etc.). These ships were built to not only fight one, but multiple Baseships at once.  Because simplely if they couldn't the Cylon War would have been lost because the Jupiter battlestars stood no chance against overwhelming numbers.  We see the Valkyerie in BoC (personally that's my ride if I could choose a Battlestar).  Now I can speculate her true capabilities, but since the Odin/Valkyrie-class is smaller perhaps they could have been made by the colonies that had smaller yards (maybe).  But, this class might not have been primarily designed for direct combat.  It could have been a force recon, hit-and-run, long range fire support, spec/black ops or CSAR ship.
Back to the (beast mode) Galactica, a few years after the war and a military down size and brand new ships began to come in the Galactica's guns may have been recycled onto other ships during her SLEP cycles.  The producers did explain that her armor had been stripped when the Galactica was going to be decommissioned early in the TNS show.
I can carry on and on, but I believe I've said enough.  By the way, beautiful job as always Kelso.

And I was merely offering an alternative option to having static missile silos...perhaps they were only installed later during peacetime...

I like the overkill, but I think the best balance is from this screenshot: [link] That's my favorite version of the old bird, by the way.

I actually favor the configuration from TRS (though I do like the increased armor and AA), the B&C configurations seemed a bit too heavy without any real explanation. As for this image, it is simply what it's name implies, an overkill combination of both configurations shown in B&C.

-shrugs- Whatever floats your boat, as floats mine. Your up-gunned version of Pegasus, coupled with the up-gunned/armored Galactica from B&C has me almost constantly looking at my little Titanium Pegasus toy, trying to figure out how many guns I could add (at least in my mind's eye), where they would be best positioned, etc. Believe it or not, you've inspired me! Heh heh heh.

Sadly, I had to sell my entire Titanium Galactica collection...save the Large Galactica...I miss them.

As for Pegasus, could definitely use some upgunning, would love to see a pic of what you come up with.

I ended up ruining my large Galactica.... forgot what I was trying to accomplish, but.... I don't even remember where the remains are.

I don't really draw anymore, and I never got any experience on the Photoshop-type stuff, so I wouldn't hold your breath. :hmm:

Makes me wonder who win in a fight, with this version of Galactica: her or Pegasus?

Well, maybe I am a bit biased, but this Galactica would have owned the Pegasus as shown in the series; this Pegasus ([link]), however, is another matter.

Combination of the two images created by CanisD portraying the Galactica and her heavier weapons configurations from the beginning and end of Blood & Chrome plus some additional AA.

Love the 'bumper sticker' idea.

A little over-gunned, but nice.
